Everybody seemed to have somebody. Except me. I didn\u2019t have any friends. No matter how hard I prayed for one. The driver pulled the door closed.<\/p>\n<p>I felt someone plop down in the seat beside me. A boy had his hand out for me to shake. \u201cHey!\u201d he said. \u201cMy name\u2019s Jack. I\u2019m new. Mind if I sit here?\u201d I looked around to see if this happy guy was making a scene, but nobody seemed to notice us, or care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess you sit here every day,\u201d he said. I\u2019d never seen him before, and I was always the first student on the bus. I wouldn\u2019t have missed him getting on.<\/p>\n<p>Jack talked a blue streak till he got off next to Saint Michael\u2019s Church. All that week, we rode together and had a grand time.<\/p>\n<p>The next week, my friend wasn\u2019t on the bus. But by then, I was used to making conversation. I looked at the other kids. <i>Talk to them. <\/i>Valentina, a girl who got off at Jack\u2019s stop, was a good start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave you seen Jack today?\u201d I asked her. She looked confused. \u201cThe loud boy who sits with me? He gets off at your stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know who you could be talking about,\u201d she said. While Valentina and I tried to solve the mystery, she and I eventually <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/friends-and-family\/friends\/9-simple-ways-to-make-friends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">became friends<\/a>. None of the other kids at the St. Michael\u2019s stop knew of Jack either. Only me.<\/p>\n<p><em>Did you enjoy this story?
