Today is the two-year anniversary of Lunch-Break Miracles<\/a>! I\u2019ve had such a blast writing about miracles and looking at the world with eyes of wonder these past two years. And I\u2019ve learned quite a bit about God\u2019s mysterious ways along the way.<\/p>\n

So I decided to put together a little list of my \u201cmiracle learnings.\u201d What would you add to the list?<\/p>\n

1) Miracles can be super small.<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s easy to dismiss a miracle if it\u2019s not on the scale of parting a major body of water! But maybe miracles are God\u2019s way of communicating with us. And that includes small talk. Like a monogrammed napkin ring<\/a> or a strange name \u201ccoincidence.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

2) God is a creative genius!<\/strong>
\nSeriously, I\u2019m constantly amazed by his miraculous designs\u2013from cliffs that look like wedding cake<\/a> to a fire rainbow<\/a>. Even something as ordinary as cabbage<\/a> is wondrous when you examine it closely.<\/p>\n

3) Love uncovers the miraculous.<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s no surprise that many miracles involve sweethearts or family members (and especially, it seems, mothers<\/a>!). There\u2019s just something about the bond of love that brings wonder to light, whether it\u2019s premature twins holding hands<\/a> or a mother speaking to her daughter through a cherished cartoon clock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4) Miracles don\u2019t always look like miracles.<\/strong>
\nSometimes you don\u2019t realize wonder has occurred under after the fact. That\u2019s something I learned while stuck on an elevator<\/a>. And, from my parents, who met in the first grade<\/a> but didn\u2019t end up connecting until much later. Isn\u2019t it amazing to think of all the \u201cmiracles in progress\u201d unfolding at this very moment?<\/p>\n

5) Prayer is powerful.<\/strong>
\nI\u2019ve noticed that prayer often comes before a miracle. That\u2019s not to say you pray and instantly wonder unfolds. But keeping an open dialog with God is key. Like the young girl who asked God for a miracle on Good Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

6) God uses people as miracles.<\/strong>
\nI\u2019ve been blown away by the number of times another person has participated in the wonder <\/a>in my life. Like my friend Gladys, whose words reached me at just the right time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

7) Miracles are completely surprising.<\/strong>
\nYou can beg for them, plead for them. But they always seem to happen when you least expect them. Take the story of a widower who stumbled upon a dollar bill from his deceased wife<\/a>. Or, the musician who ended up writing a book of prayer doodles<\/a> based on her struggle with depression.<\/p>\n

8) Sometimes you gotta think like a kid.<\/strong>
\nStop asking questions and put on your inner-child wonder vision<\/a>. That\u2019s what I did last September when I followed a series of signs to Ireland<\/a>. (Although, I\u2019m still trying to figure out exactly why God led me there!) <\/p>\n

9) Miracles often happen at low points.<\/strong>
\nAs C.S. Lewis said, \u201cGod whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain.\u201d In moments of darkness, God swoops in with a nudge or sign<\/a> to remind you He\u2019s got your back.<\/p>\n

10) It\u2019s all about perspective.<\/strong>
\n\u200bWhat\u2019s a miracle for you might not be for someone else. In April, I asked readers to submit photos of what miracles looked like<\/a>. The submissions ranged from a sobriety ring to a spider\u2019s web. God speaks to you in your own language. And He\u2019ll use whatever is meaningful to you<\/a>, not someone else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
