I\u2019ve written before about the<\/em> miracle that brought me<\/em><\/a> to<\/em> Guideposts. Well, the other day I discovered I wasn\u2019t alone! Sandy Wisor, who works for <\/em>Guideposts OurPrayer Ministry<\/a>, was also led to our company in a pretty amazing way.<\/em><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s her story\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2001, my mother\u2019s kidneys shut down for a second time. After much discussion, we decided it was time to go in for donor testing. We contacted the Albany Medical Center transplant team in upstate New York and attended a general meeting on kidney donation.<\/p>\n

Every meeting attendee was given an information packet, including an inspiring story\u2013How Could I Ever Say Yes?<\/em><\/a>\u2013about a daughter who donates her kidney to her mother.<\/span><\/p>\n

The article was published by a company I\u2019d never heard of before\u2013Guideposts<\/em>\u2013in <\/span>Angels on Earth<\/em><\/a> magazine. After reading it, I was determined to become my mother\u2019s donor. I\u2019d do anything for Mom, especially if it meant she\u2019d live a happier, healthier life off dialysis.<\/span><\/p>\n

While waiting for our blood test results, we prayed for good news. A few weeks later, we discovered I was in fact a match\u2013one out of six antigens to be exact. It was a true answer to our prayers!<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the next several months, Mom and I spent quality time together in prayer and even started exercising to get ready for the big day. Whenever I felt nervous, I reread that Guideposts<\/em> story.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally the time came to prepare for the surgery. We traveled to the Albany Medical Center twice so that Mom could receive a blood transfusion from my unit of donated blood. <\/span><\/p>\n

Shortly after, I received a call at work from the transplant coordinator. She said the second transfusion results had turned positive, which meant that I could no longer be Mom\u2019s donor. It broke my heart to tell Mom the surgery was off.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thankfully, a few months later, Mom received a kidney transplant from an anonymous donor. Of course, I was overjoyed that everything worked out. But I couldn\u2019t help but wonder. <\/span><\/p>\n

Why did God have my mother and I go through all that\u2013the surgery prep, the non-stop praying, the blood transfusions, the endless tests\u2013if I wasn\u2019t meant to be her donor? And what was the purpose of reading that article? It seemed pointless.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got my answer a year later. I was flipping through my local newspaper when something caught my eye. A job listing at Guideposts<\/em>. I wouldn\u2019t have recognized the name had it not been for that story. I applied to the position and started my job as a prayer associate for Guideposts OurPrayer Ministry<\/a><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I quickly realized God had been training me for that job all along through my mother\u2019s situation and that article. One of my new responsibilities was answering calls on the Guideposts<\/em> prayer line and responding to online prayer requests. <\/span><\/p>\n

I could relate to so many of the prayers we received. I too had faced uncertainty, fear, doubt and anxiety, especially with my mother\u2019s illness. <\/span><\/p>\n

Today, I\u2019m the Senior Prayer Associate at OurPrayer<\/a> and I am truly blessed with a wonderful job supporting volunteers globally and reaching out and lifting up those in need of prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Life lesson: God knows exactly what He\u2019s doing, even if we don\u2019t!<\/span><\/p>\n
