It\u2019s the first week of school here in New York. Maggie started sixth grade at her new middle school yesterday, and Mary begins high school today. It\u2019s exciting but also a bit scary\u2014and not just for them! In the midst of thinking about Maggie\u2019s terrific curriculum I find myself wondering, What if those tween girls are mean? <\/em>As I smile about Mary\u2019s small classes I worry, How will she balance academics with all her dancing?<\/em> Then I stop myself and say:<\/p>\n

There will always be unknowns.
\nThere will always be things outside my control.
\nThere will always be bumps in the road.
\nWhatever comes, I will deal with it with God\u2019s help.<\/p>\n

The what-ifs<\/em> in life only have power over me when I forget what-is<\/em>: God is with us. For what lies ahead is no mystery to him. He knows the crosses he will ask me to bear, and he knows how he will help me carry them. I don\u2019t need to wonder what will happen\u2014I know: whatever comes, I will deal with it with God\u2019s help.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
