Daffodils are toxic to bunnies, so we get to live in harmony when their sun-drenched show is in <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/welcome-spring-with-a-simple-inexpensive-bouquet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full flower in early spring.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.poetryfoundation.org\/poems\/44469\/endymion-56d2239287ca5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> in Keats\u2019s famous words,<\/a> \u201ca thing of beauty is a joy for ever,\u201d we all know spring bulbs fade and die back after a few weeks of glory. When they do, their blooms browned, their leaves splayed and pale, it\u2019s tempting to take to them with pruning shears, lest your garden look sloppy and neglected.<\/p>\n<p>This denies your daffodils in two ways. First, pruning spent daffodil foliage denies the plant the opportunity to engage in its full cycle of <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/prayer\/bible-resources\/how-to-grow-a-biblical-garden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bloom, decay and rebirth.<\/a> And second, it robs you, the gardener, of a satisfying spring task to keep your garden looking neat and attractive.<\/p>\n<p>Try this easy technique to keep your daffodils thriving even while they sleep their way toward next year. <\/p>\n<p>Once the blooms have died off and the foliage has lightened in color and flopped out into a flat spray, gather its long leaves into a ponytail-like clump. Divide the bunch in half and tie the leaves into a loose single knot. The leaves will form an appealing, rounded shape that can sit in your garden without giving off neglected vibes. <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/friends-and-family\/pets\/dogs\/hide-and-seek-with-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">If you plant hostas<\/a> or other spreading plants near your daffodils, they might even become camouflaged by their greening neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>Now the most satisfying part of all.
