Edward Grinnan became editor-in-chief of Guideposts the same year I was promoted to editor-in-chief of Angels. It was an exciting move for both of us, and in many ways I had Edward to thank for my promotion. I started working for Guideposts as a young editorial assistant. It was a job title I\u2019d never even heard of before moving to New York City. I did well answering reader mail and proofreading, and was soon entrusted with fact-checking to be sure every story we published was not only true but factually accurate.<\/p>\n
My next move was to copy chief, where I clarified details of stories the editors helped people write. Edward was one of the up-and-coming editors I worked closely with. He encouraged me to learn how to help people write their stories myself. Me? Write? \u201cYou really think I can?\u201d I asked him.<\/p>\n
