And here&#8217;s a slimming tip: If you omit the rice from this recipe and serve it as a soup, the per-serving calorie count drops to 180.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"blue-lines\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"width: 600px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>1 T. canola oil<\/td>\n<td>2 T. no-salt-added tomato paste<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"250\">1 c. onion, finely diced<\/td>\n<td>4 oz. turkey sausage, cut into bite-sized pieces<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00bd c. celery, finely diced<\/td>\n<td>3 c. no-salt-added chicken stock<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2 c. bell peppers, finely diced<\/td>\n<td>1 c. brown rice<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2 cloves garlic, chopped<\/td>\n<td rowspan=\"2\">8 oz. uncooked small (36\/45 per lb.) shrimp, peeled and deveined (about 1 cup)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1 t. ground cumin<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00bc t. cayenne pepper<\/td>\n<td>4 green onions, sliced<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 class=\"blue-lines\">Preparation<\/h3>\n<p>1. Place saucepan over medium heat and add oil.<\/p>\n<p>2. Once hot, add onions and celery; reduce heat and cook till vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>3. Add peppers, garlic, cumin and cayenne; cook for 3 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>4. Add tomato paste and sausage. Add stock and bring to a boil.<\/p>\n<p>5. Stir in rice, cover, reduce heat to low.<\/p>\n<p>6. Simmer, covered, for 40 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>7. Add shrimp. Cook till shrimp is just cooked through and pink, about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>8.
