Pecans or hazelnuts also taste great when glazed.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"blue-lines\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"width: 600px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">4 Tbsp. unsalted butter<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">\u2153 c. pure maple syrup<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">6 quart-size slices of fresh ginger, halved<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">1 Tbsp. water<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">1 tsp. ground ginger<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">1 tsp. salt<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\u00bc tsp. Tabasco<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">1 lb. (4 c.) shelled walnuts<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 class=\"blue-lines\">Preparation<\/h3>\n<p>1. Heat oven to 300\u00b0F.<\/p>\n<p>2. Combine all ingredients except the nuts in small saucepan and slowly simmer over low heat for 2\u20133 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>3. Put nuts in a bowl, pour glaze over them and stir and toss to coat. <\/p>\n<p>4. Line a baking sheet with foil and spread nuts in a single layer on it. Bake for 30\u201340 minutes, stirring at 15-minute and then 10-minute intervals. When the nuts look light and almost dry as you toss them, they&#8217;re done. <strong>Don&#8217;t touch.<\/strong> The caramelized sugar is extremely hot.
