My daughter\u2019s issues had me at my wit\u2019s end. No one else I knew seemed to be going through the same thing with their teenager. I practically ran into my church that day, I was so desperate to talk to someone.<\/p>\n
But it was a weekday. Everyone was busy, the pastor deep in conversation, the secretary on the phone, the associate pastor not in his office. Even the head of the women\u2019s ministries was tied up in a meeting.<\/p>\n
I felt more alone than ever and was about to leave when I saw a familiar face, a woman I recognized from Sunday services. I stared at her.<\/p>\n
\u201cHi, I\u2019m JoAnn,\u201d she said, walking over to me. \u201cThis is probably going to sound odd, but I got the strongest feeling that I should come to church right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m Sue. I was looking for someone to talk to, but they\u2019re all busy.\u201d<\/p>\n
She gently touched my arm. \u201cI think I know why we are both here,\u201d she said. \u201cLet\u2019s grab a coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n
We talked for over an hour. \u201cMay I say a prayer for you?\u201d she asked. She took my hands in hers, right then and there, and I felt like I could trust her with anything.<\/p>\n
Soon we were praying for each other every day and getting together every week at the coffee shop.<\/p>\n
When I had no one to turn to, God put JoAnn in my path. She\u2019s been there for me ever since\u2014a wonderful listener, faithful prayer partner and trusted friend.<\/p>\n
