But not so much the word, \u201csurrender.\u201d But I\u2019ve come to learn that surrendering is an important part of being in the military\u2014and being a part of a military family. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.  Surrender One\u2019s Will<\/strong><br \/>\nTo be an effective part of a military unit, each soldier must surrender his own will to that of his commander. It\u2019s only when an army works together that they can accomplish the things they\u2019ve be recruited to do.<\/p>\n<p>A military family is also at war. We fight fear, challenges, and the stress of having a loved one in a difficult life situation. <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/daily-devotions\/devotions-for-faith-prayer\/the-prayer-of-surrender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">When we surrender<\/a>\u2014accept our circumstances and have faith in God\u2019s ability to keep us safe\u2014we become an effective part God\u2019s purpose.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopguideposts.org\/microsite\/index\/load\/id\/35\/?___store=guideposts&amp;sourcekey=22MILITARY&amp;_ga=2.244523077.1949433189.1?sourcekey=WEBTRAXYBA&amp;utm_source=other&amp;utm_medium=other&amp;utm_campaign=EdieNelsonBlogOnGPsite&amp;utm_content=WEBTRAXYBA_B_other_ZZZ_17-07-24_ggggg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Please Donate to Guideposts Military Outreach<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.  Surrender to a Larger Purpose<\/strong><br \/>\nThe men and women in our military have committed to service beyond their own comfort and decisions. They go where they are told and perform the job they\u2019ve committed to do. This isn\u2019t easy, but their ultimate service and sacrifice are what keep our country safe.<\/p>\n<p>As military families look beyond our own hardships, we can be used by God to affect not just our loved ones but also others who are also struggling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.  Surrender to God\u2019s Peace<\/strong><br \/>\nBy serving with our military, the service men and women are part of the organization that brings peace. They keep us free from attack, and they serve here at home, keeping us safe during natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, military families live under the imminent possibility of what our loved ones are facing. But when we acknowledge that <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/the-power-of-putting-god-in-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God is more than able to take care of them<\/a>, we are surrendering to His authority. That is what brings peace, no matter the circumstances that surround us.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, surrender is an odd trait for a healthy military family.
