He loves playing with cars.<em> Loves<\/em> it! He even sleeps with cars in his hands. So I knew he\u2019d be excited about the Cars racetrack that my husband and I bought him for his birthday. <\/p>\n<p>I talked to Nolan the day I bought his gift and told him that Grandmama had something he was really going to like. For the week and a half after that, it was all he could do to wait. He peppered me with questions about what it was. He asked if it was big. He guessed what it was over and over. And I gave him outlandish suggestions that it must be a bowling ball or ironing board. His eyes sparkled as he\u2019d say, \u201cGrandmama, it\u2019s not that!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day of his party arrived and as folks gathered at Nolan\u2019s house, the pile of presents got bigger and bigger. Nolan came to where I was sitting in the kitchen and said, \u201cGrandmama, did you bring my present?\u201d I told him I did, and we walked into the living room so I could show the wrapped box to him. It was almost as big as he was.<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes later, I heard a grunting sound and when I looked, he was trying to lug the heavy box into the kitchen. He looked up at me with pleading eyes and said, \u201cCan I open it now?\u201d I told him he\u2019d have to wait just a little bit longer until after everyone ate.<\/p>\n<p>He had such a <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/daily-devotions\/devotions-for-faith-prayer\/pray-for-patience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hard time waiting<\/a>, but when his mama said it was time to open presents, Nolan tore into that big box and discovered that it was worth the wait. <\/p>\n<p>Friends, it\u2019s sometimes the same way in our lives. God promises us that He\u2019s going to do something for us and when it doesn\u2019t arrive immediately, we\u2019re just like little Nolan. \u201cHow long do I have to wait? When\u2019s it coming, God?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then when it still doesn\u2019t arrive, we get impatient. \u201cGod, you promised. Why hasn\u2019t it arrived yet?\u201d But just as Nolan learned, it\u2019s worth the wait.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve learned from experience that <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/daily-devotions\/devotions-for-faith-prayer\/all-in-gods-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God\u2019s timing is always perfect<\/a>\u2014even when it\u2019s not on my timeline. I\u2019ve tried to rush Him and discovered that His timing was always better because the waiting period was always for a reason.<\/p>\n<p>Are you tired of waiting today? Trust God and don\u2019t rush Him\u2014because He knows exactly when the perfect time will be to bring His plan to fruition. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My little grandson Nolan, just turned four last week.
