What are some of the wisdom, changes and perks of getting older? Guideposts.org <\/em>teamed up with Arnicare for the \u201cDear Aging Contest\u201d to find out. Readers were asked to share their growing older stories, wisdom and experiences, from writing about how their bodies have changed to what they\u2019re doing to stay healthy.<\/p>\n

For contest winner Carolyn Bolz, the win comes full circle with Guideposts Magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you believe that when I was in high school, I was one of the winners in Guideposts Magazine\u2019s Youth Writing Contest?\u201d Bolz wrote in an email. \u201cMy story about how my sister Judy and I participated in a Christmas program for Deaf students was awarded a $500 college scholarship.\u201d Bolz said both she and her sister are not Deaf, but know sign language and were asked to join the Deaf students in their program that year. Bolz wrote a poem on her changing body and the hopes she has for the future. <\/p>\n

Dear Aging,<\/p>\n

As I have gotten older,
\nI\u2019ve learned to be strong
\nAnd not to worry
\nThat things may go wrong.<\/p>\n

My life has definitely
\nChanged for the best<\/a>,
\nAlthough at times,
\nI have to stop and rest.<\/p>\n

Of course, my hair
\nHas begun turning gray.
\nPlus, I notice wrinkles
\nAlmost everyday.<\/p>\n

I also need my glasses
\nTo read the fine print
\nOr I can find myself
\nHaving to squint.<\/p>\n

Despite these troubles,
\nI feel just fine,
\nEven if my health
\nIsn\u2019t perfect all the time.<\/p>\n

I want to stay hopeful<\/a>
\nAs I start growing old.
\nI can\u2019t wait to see
\nThe next years unfold.<\/p>\n

Yes, I have learned
\nBeing joyful<\/a> is the key
\nTo aging gracefully!
