Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/health-and-wellness\/healing\/8-tips-to-make-aging-a-more-positive-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tips to help you get started<\/a> from Dr. Ken Redcross, a board-certified internal medicine physician, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/health-and-wellness\/exercise\/meet-joan-macdonald-the-75-year-old-influencer-proving-fitness-can-happen-at-any-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">75-year-old fitness inspiration Joan MacDonald<\/a> of Train with Joan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Find your exercise match. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pick a workout that will best help you reach your goals and is enjoyable. If you\u2019re not sure what to choose, look online or consult a fitness coach for help. MacDonald, who lost over 60 pounds, attributes much of her success to her personal trainer and daughter, Michelle. \u201cGood ones know what you are capable of,\u201c she says, and they can help you stay motivated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t to forget to warm up.<\/strong><\/p>\n<table align=\"right\" width=\"255\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><strong>    What is Arnica?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>    Arnica montana <\/strong> is a type of<br \/>\n\t\t\t    mountain daisy with a long<br \/>\n\t\t\t    history of healing.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Redcross says, \u201cWarming up your muscles before an activity is key to injury prevention.\u201d To start, he suggests <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/health-and-wellness\/exercise\/5-perks-of-going-on-a-walk-in-your-neighborhood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">walking<\/a> or running in place for five to 10 minutes. Stretching exercises can also improve your flexibility but be careful not to push past your limits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be prepared for pain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having comfortable, supportive shoes and wraps or braces (if needed) will make exercise easier, but some soreness can be expected with new activity. \u201cYou want to avoid medications that mask pain,\u201d says Redcross. Instead, he suggests using an Arnica-based medicine like Boiron\u2019s Arnicare Gel to spot treat sore areas. This type of homeopathic pain reliever can safely be used alongside other medications or supplements you may already take.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have a positive mindset.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A difficult part of any fitness plan is patience. Try to make lasting changes instead of striving for perfection and set realistic goals. This <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/health-and-wellness\/better-living\/positive-thinking\/how-to-choose-a-positive-attitude\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">can-do attitude<\/a> served MacDonald well throughout her fitness journey. \u201cNothing will come to you if you don\u2019t go and get it.
