She prayed for her future husband, not only that he would be incredibly handsome, smart and sensitive but also that he would be a man who loved God and followed Jesus.  <\/p>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t nearly so wise and forward-looking. But then we got married, and she amazed me. She not only prayed for our children before we had them, but she also prayed for the people they would eventually date and marry (who were also yet to be born). <\/p>\n<p>Who does that? <\/p>\n<p>Turns out, a very wise and spiritual person. So, I joined her. I started praying for our children and their spouses. And, when they were born and began growing into actual people, we both prayed for the friends they would make, the teachers who would influence them and more\u2014long <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/faith-prayer-devotions\/stories-of-faith-faith-prayer-devotions\/should-you-pray-for-the-people-in-your-dreams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">before we met those people<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>And, while we\u2019re still waiting for some of my wife&#8217;s prayers for her husband to be answered (though she would say they have been), many of our other prayers for people we had yet to meet have been abundantly answered. It\u2019s been a thrill to meet people we\u2019ve long prayed for, and sometimes be able to tell them we\u2019ve been praying for them since before we knew them (such as our daughter-in-law and son-in-law at their weddings). <\/p>\n<p>It may sound crazy, but sometimes \u201ccrazy\u201d leads to <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/prayer\/prayers-for-loved-ones\/don-t-be-too-shy-to-ask-for-prayer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unexpected blessings<\/a>. So, why not try praying for people you haven\u2019t met yet? Here\u2019s a list of possibilities. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>Children and <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/friends-and-family\/family\/grandchildren\/lesley-stahl-the-blessings-of-grandchildren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grandchildren<\/a> yet unborn <\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>The <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/angels-and-miracles\/miracles\/gods-grace\/a-husband-at-my-door\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">future husbands<\/a> and wives of loved ones<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>Future <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/daily_devotional\/a-good-friend-in-time-of-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">friends<\/a> and neighbors<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>Future pastors, <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/quote\/11397\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teachers<\/a>, coaches<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>Local, state and national leaders of the future<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;,sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\">\u2014<\/span>Future employers and employees<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s just a start. You may, of course, feel free to add to the list as you think of those whose paths will cross yours <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/prayer\/true-stories-of-answered-prayer\/an-answered-prayer-for-the-perfect-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the future<\/a>.
