Similar to the weeks of Advent (but sort of in reverse), Easter Sunday is counted as the first Sunday of Eastertide. The Sunday after that is called the second and so on, leading up to <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/prayer\/power-of-prayer\/5-prayers-for-pentecost-the-churchs-birthday\/\">Pentecost Sunday<\/a> (or Whitsuntide). In some traditions, the period is celebrated as a single \u201cfeast,\u201d called \u201cthe great Lord\u2019s Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I love that. I want my <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/positive-living\/health-and-wellness\/better-living\/emotional-and-mental-health\/the-message-of-easter\/\">Easter celebration to endure.<\/a> I want it to run deep. And I want to pray differently post-Easter this year. I want to pray \u201cresurrection prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Prayers Before the Resurrection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>What do I mean by that? Think of it this way. Do you remember the prayers of Jesus\u2019 first followers before His resurrection? Prayers such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peter\u2019s \u201cNever, Lord!\u201d (Matthew 16:22 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>James and John\u2019s petition, \u201cLet one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory\u201d (Mark 10:37 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>The disciples\u2019 frantic cry in the storm, \u201cTeacher, don\u2019t you care if we drown?\u201d (Mark 4:35 NIV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"max-width: 768px\">\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-159670\" src=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/hands-outstretched-in-prayer-768x432.jpg\" alt=\"Hands outstretched in prayer\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-credit\"><\/span>\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><strong>Prayers After the Resurrection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To be fair, they were still learning and adjusting to the mind-boggling realities of <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/daily-devotions\/how-to-embrace-jesus-every-day\">who Jesus is<\/a> and what life with Him is like. But after the resurrection things changed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They worshiped Him. (Matthew 28:9, 17)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThey remembered his words.\u201d (Luke 24:8 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>Their hearts burned within them. (Luke 24:32)<\/li>\n<li>Thomas said, \u201cMy Lord and my God!\u201d (John 20:28 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>Peter said, \u201cYou know all things; you know that I love you.\u201d (John 21:17 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>Stephen prayed, \u201cLord, do not hold this sin against them.\u201d (Acts 7:60 NIV)<\/li>\n<li>The persecuted Jerusalem Christians prayed, \u201cEnable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.\u201d (Acts 4:30 NIV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Those<\/em> are <a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/faith-prayer-devotions\/5-ways-to-keep-celebrating-easter\/\">Eastertide prayers.<\/a> They\u2019re \u201cgreat Lord\u2019s Day\u201d prayers. They are worshipful, passionate, faith-filled, forgiveness-drenched, and bold.<\/p>\n<p>So, for this Eastertide, I\u2019m asking God to help me pray like that to my Risen Lord. I will focus on worshiping and remembering His words until my heart burns within me.
