For that reason (among many), an evening prayer plan can be a huge blessing.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is it possible and surprisingly easy\u00a0to incorporate prayer into your existing pre-sleep routine; it could lead to better sleep patterns\u2014as well as a closer walk with God. (I have written here\u00a0about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/prayer\/how-to-pray\/a-very-old-way-to-pray-bedtime-prayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the blessings of \u201cCompline,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0a nightly habit of prayer.)\u00a0So here is a suggested evening prayer plan, which of course can be altered according to your routine:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)\u00a0\u00a0Pray as you enter the bedroom.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cMay the Lord Almighty grant me and those I love a peaceful night and a perfect end. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)\u00a0\u00a0Pray as you empty your pockets and prepare to undress.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cOur help is in the Name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)\u00a0\u00a0Pray as you undress for the night.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cAlmighty God, my heavenly Father, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word\u00a0and deed, in what I have done, and in what I have left undone. For the sake of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, forgive all my offenses\u00a0and grant that I may walk before you in newness of life, to the glory of your Name. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) \u00a0Pray as you wash your face and\u00a0brush your teeth.<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cPraise the Father, the Son\u00a0and the Holy Spirit, the God who is, who was, and is to come, at the end of the ages. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) \u00a0Sing in the shower.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nSing a hymn or worship song, such as \u201cAbide With Me,\u201d \u201cSun of My Soul,\u201d or \u201cYour Love Never Fails.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>6) \u00a0Pray as you dry off or get dressed for the night.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nPray the Lord\u2019s Prayer, followed by any petitions for yourself or intercessions for others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7) \u00a0Pray as you climb into bed and\u00a0turn off the\u00a0light.<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cInto your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit; For you have redeemed me, O Lord, O God of truth. Keep me as the apple of your eye and hide me under the shadow of your wings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You may also want to add a few more components of the traditional \u201cCompline\u201d service, which are all helpful in preparing your mind, heart\u00a0and spirit for sleep.
