Well, here\u2019s a prayer that woke me up today and knocked me right out of my mid-week doldrums. The title alone made me take notice: \u201cDisturb Us, Lord.\u201d I\u2019d never come across this prayer before and wasn\u2019t even looking for it. You could say it found me. I hope you like it as much as I do. Or maybe you\u2019ve known it all along!<\/p>\n

Disturb Us, Lord<\/strong><\/p>\n

Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves,
\nWhen our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little,
\nWhen we arrive safely because we sailed too close to the shore.<\/p>\n

Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess
\nWe have lost our thirst for the waters of life;
\nHaving fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity,
\nAnd in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim.<\/p>\n

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas,
\nWhere storms will show your mastery;
\nWhere losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.
\nWe ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes,
\nAnd to push into the future in strength, courage, hope and love.<\/p>\n
