Some good things have happened, but the big provisions from Him haven\u2019t arrived yet. I\u2019ll be honest, I\u2019ve been a bit discouraged.<\/p>\n<p>Then during my devotions recently, I read a verse in Isaiah 7:11, \u201cAsk a sign for yourself from the Lord your God.\u201d Those words glared from the page at me. So I prayed, \u201cGod, I\u2019m weary on this journey you have me on. Could you send me a sign\u2014a word\u2014that You\u2019re still in charge of what You\u2019ve asked me to do, that You\u2019ve got it under control?\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I prayed that prayer for several weeks, and then one morning this week, the answer arrived in a way I\u2019d never have expected&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in 2005, my husband and I took a group from our church on a mission trip to Costa Rica. It was a life-changing trip for all of us. Paul and I had gone hoping to be a blessing to the Costa Rican people and to our missionary friends\u2014but <em>we <\/em>were the ones who were blessed beyond words.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"328\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-43113\" alt=\"Michelle's husband their Costa Rican friend, Fernando, who helped answer a prayer!\" src=\"https:\/\/gpbookstore.org\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/blog_prayeranswer_350.jpg\" style=\"width: 350px;height: 328px;margin-left: 15px;margin-right: 15px;float: right\" \/>One of the highlights of our trip was meeting Fernando Herrera Gomez. He\u2019d been such an encouragement to our missionary friends, and he traveled with us that week as we visited orphanages and nursing homes, worked on building projects, and went sightseeing. Our whole group loved Fernando. He\u2019s a gifted man, fun, and he has a huge heart for God.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve stayed in touch over the years, but it had been months since we\u2019d last talked. Then I received the message from him on Facebook this week that made me cry.<\/p>\n<p>It read, \u201cGood morning, dear sister. I&#8217;ve been praying for you during this week. This is kinda weird but for some reason I\u2019ve been feeling you have to make decisions, and God has told me He has the control, and He is with you. Love you, dear friend. Have a wonderful and blessed day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I literally had goosebumps.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment I received that message, I was trying to decide whether or not to squeeze a few days of a film conference into an already packed trip. I was making decisions about which publishers I needed to make appointments with at the publishing convention I\u2019ll attend. Both decisions were tied to this big dream God\u2019s placed on my heart, the one I\u2019d been discouraged about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/guideposts.org\/blogs\/on-the-journey\/prayers-get-answered\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><i>READ MORE: WHEN PRAYERS GET ANSWERED<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fernando didn\u2019t have a clue what I\u2019d been praying. He didn\u2019t know I\u2019d been asking for God\u2019s reassurance that He was in control of my project, but God used him to send the word of encouragement that I needed\u2014from a country more than 1,700 miles away.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, God (and Fernando).
